Ladies & Gentlemen:
Hello. My name is Patricia, and I suffer from multiple sclerosis. Thank you for the opportunity to express my thanks for the many ways HABcore has helped me.
I have lived at the same HABcore-sponsored property for over three years. When we initially moved into the property in May 2007, we were literally "rescued". When Mr. Heisman returned our call, we had been living in a series of motels and rooming houses. We were in a motel, about to be evicted because we could no longer pay the rent. He told us about a 1-bedroom apartment, and in a week's time we were moved in. The rent was only one-third of our income, which meant we didn't have to fear eviction any longer. My friend, Michael, was allowed to move in with me because he was my "caretaker"--he did the shopping, cleaning, cooking, etc.
Due to my MS, it is detrimental to my health to be in the extreme heat during the summertime. What a relief to know that HABcore pays my utilities! We are on the ground floor, but it still gets pretty warm. And thank Heaven for no stairs to try to climb! The apartment is one block away from Main Street in town, where my pharmacy is located. This makes deliveries of my medications very convenient. Also, there are various small stores located right on main street, which is good when my "helpers" need to get me small items, between major shopping trips by my aide. The laundry is also very close by.
The staff of HABcore, Mr. Heisman and all of the assistants, have been extremely pleasant and helpful both in person and on the telephone. They have made many valuable suggestions.
Sadly, after seven years together, Michael developed his own health problems, and I lost him last October. I was a little unnerved, at first, to find myself alone; but because of HABcore, I have the peace of mind that I will have a place to live, and someone looking out for me. I now also have a home health aide to assist me, and a visiting physician service who comes out to see me monthly.
I apologize for not being there in person, but transporting me anywhere is, to say the least, an ordeal. Thank all of you for your continuing support of HABcore, and the excellent service it provides me!
Sincerely,
Patricia L., Keansburg
